Introduction
Who are we? Where are we based? What are we doing? Why are we doing it? Get answers to those questions and more below!
To start with I'm Tom, the founder of Grow Sensors. As you've probably guessed, I'm keen gardener/grower who also loves data and tech. I've always been fascinated with plants and growing.
When I'm not working, you'll find me in the garden, growing food, running experiments and thinking about how to make the outcomes better and the effort required less. Yup, I'll admit that I'm a lazy gardener. I expect my garden to work for me, not the other way around.
But enough about me! We are currently a team of 9. A mix of part time freelancers, agencies and like minded co-founders. All working in the same direction.
We've been bootstrapping Grow Sensor for 3 years now. We've been taking our time and enjoying life and the start up process. Getting to market quickly always comes second to funds when bootstrapping and we are happy with that, less stress and more time to get the product right!
Developing a product like the Grow Sensor is complex and takes a lot of thinking. Anything that involves measuring the environment needs thorough testing and we want to get it right before sending our first products out for beta testing.
Thanks for bearing with us, you won't be disappointed!
Pretty much yup! As of November 2023, our sensor is made and is currently in testing. We are about a third of the way through the app development and should have this completed in the next 3 months (February 2024.) We plan to start beta testing in around April 2024. We still have some work left on the case before starting the injection moulding process.
As mentioned above we've been taking it slow, but we're gearing up for launch and everything that comes with it now. 💪
Over the coming months you'll start to see more from us as we actively build pre launch hype for the product.
FAQs
UK and Europe! We will be-launching in the UK first and then we'll take it from there.
Why are you making the Grow Sensor?
Great question! The simple answer is that a lot of what's on offer in this sector is either very dated, not great or not accessible (in the UK) to growers that want to take it to the next level.
We want want to change that and we have the expertise to do so. We may be a new(ish) company but we are not new to the game.
We are experienced professionals in design and development for product and digital. That puts us in a great place to deliver a product that genuinely solves a problem and is great to use.
So this is actually happening?
Yes! Hold on to your pants! Early adopters will be growing with the Grow Sensor in 2024. Which means better plants, higher yields, better quality product, less inputs, less electricity and less stress.
If you've got a question drop me a message to hi@growsensor.co. I'm especially interested-in talking with UK growers and suppliers that want to know more about our product.
Keep on growing! 🌱
